Reading Aloud To Teens

For some reason in our educational system we stop reading out loud to our children when they enter middle school, sometimes even before that. Why? There is so much more to reading aloud to our children then just the function of teaching them to read. Check out this recent magazine article in VOYA (Voice of Youth Avocates) Teens Take Time To Listen When You Make Time To Read Aloud. Reading aloud to teens should be taking place in our schools as this article advocates, however since we do not always have control over that decision we can help by remembering to read aloud to our teens at home, or even sharing audio books while we travel to promote discussion. Happy Reading. ~Sara
